I am a Registered Expressive Art Therapist (REAT) and specialize in utilizing painting, clay, sculpture, sketching, coloring, drawing and music in conjunction with talk therapy for purposes of healing. Our hands often find the words our mouths can't and art making becomes a place to grow and heal. Although I mostly work with adolescents and teens in art therapy, I do use expressive art therapy with all ages. Please contact me to set up an Expressive Art Therapy consultation. You do not have to be an artist, or even artistically inclined, to do Expressive Art Therapy and all supplies are included, as a trained Registered Expressive Art Therapist and Studio Arts Instructor at Alaska Pacific University, I will facilitate teaching you what you need to work in this therapeutic process.
Many individuals can experience symptoms associated with painful and traumatic circumstances. Anxiety, fear, and hopelessness are a few emotions that can linger post traumatic events. After a trauma, it’s normal to experience flashbacks, anxiety, and other uncomfortable symptoms. I'm trained in Trauma-Informed Care and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and will help you focus on your strengths, help you heal in the past, and utilize grounding techniques to guide you through the process of grief and healing.
When we lose a loved one, we have lost a piece of ourselves. Working for many years with Hospice I have learned that it is possible for you to once again honor the loved one you have lost through meaningful memories and connections of this person. Our stages of grief are not universal and we all experience the ebb and flow of sadness at different points in the bereavement process. I will meet you where you are at and assist you in finding the light we all seek to reclaim when we have lost a loved one.
Depression, fear, anxiety and stress are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions that we can experience at some point in our lives. In our work together I will be utilizing techniques including creative arts therapy, mindfulness, positive psychology and strength-based therapies to help you recover motivation, perspective, and joy that you once had in your life.
This safe and comforting space is for you. Counseling can be beneficial both in-person and online. At this time I am taking new clients for in-person sessions while following CDC and state guidelines as well as clients online. Online sessions are held via a HIPAA compliant software from the safety of your own home.
